What is TESSERA?
TESSERA is a group of PCs (known as UNIFIED EMBEDDED COMPUTERS or UECs) designed to completely recover from any computer disaster, be it BSODs (blue screen of death), ransomware, viral or malware infections, system corruptions, etc. Unlike SYNERGY, TESSERA UECs are completely self-contained.
A current computer can be transplanted into a TESSERA UEC or the TESSERA UEC can be a fresh installation of an operating system. TESSERA is compatible with all versions of Windows (XP and up) and all Debian-based Linux systems. For fresh installations, TESSERA is only available for either WIndows 10 or 11 or any open-source Debian-based Linux system (i.e. Ubuntu, Linux Mint, etc.)
TESSERA’s recovery processes operate through a peri-operating system (PERI-OS) with both primary (daily) and secondary (hourly) recovery processes.
A PERI-OS is an operating system that “encompasses” the user operating system (i.e. Windows). It shares similarities with a Host operating system running a virtual machine, but there are key differences. A PERI-OS is a bare minimum operating system that runs entirely in the background and is focused on a few or even one purpose(s). With TESSERA, the PERI-OS is focused entirely on security and recovery.
Even more, the PERI-OS is not even on the computer! It can be physically removed instantly to act as a type of “killswitch” to prevent the spread of ransomware or viruses throughout a network, adding another, unexpected layer to security. When the PERI-OS is removed, there is no way of any intrusion or attack to continue on a TESSERA UEC as there is no longer an operating system to access. Once the threat has passed, The PERI-OS can be reinstalled and TESSERA UECs can be booted to the PERI-OS to start either recovery process.
TESSERA UECs are available in both laptop and tower form factors. Due to the complex nature of the system, All-In-Ones (AIOs) are not available. Laptops come in two basic configurations while towers come in three basic configurations.
